Fewer visitors are arriving at the roof-tiled Thanh
Toan bridge – a sister of the Japanese-style bridge in Hoi An – that
serves as a favourite rural gateway during hot summer days.
Lately, a Japanese-style park in HCM City''s Hoc Mon District had been
receiving a lot of attention in the media, so I struck out for a visit
with a friend to see what the fuss was about.
Sat quietly in the rural outskirts of Hue, Thanh Toan tile-roofed
bridge draws visitors from the city with its own particular charms,
offering something different from its sister Japanese-style bridge in
Hoi An.
Nobuyo Tajawa and her fellow Japanese expats living
in the central city of Hoi An took about two hours to prepare their
nagashi soumen (Japanese-style noodle) party on Hoang Van Thu Street
yesterday.
